Roque: Duterte “not laughing” when shown controversial video on federalism

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte was “cool” when shown the video on federalism uploaded by Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson in her Facebook page.

This is according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, who noted that the President was “not laughing” when shown the video featuring blogger Drew Olivar dancing to a tune.

The video drew strong reactions from the public and government officials.

Uson noted that the video was not funded by taxpayers’ money.

“It’s freedom of expression. He’s a staunch advocate of freedom of expression kaya nga mahilig magmura,” Roque said of the chief executive.

The Palace spokesperson also acknowledged that with the incident, federalism was now known, but for the wrong reasons.

“So ang hamon ngayon is how do you translate this controversy into something positive for federalism. There’s always an opportunity in anything that happens,” Roque said.
