Operators seek another P1-increase in jeepney fare

(Eagle News) — Jeepney groups are asking for another Php 1.00 increase in jeepney fare due to the series of price hikes in petroleum products.

Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP) Zeny Maranan said that the successive oil price hikes are already affecting the take home pay of drivers.

Maranan elaborated that the P9 minimum fare is no longer sufficient considering the current prices of oil products.

With the increase of Php 1.20 per liter of diesel that took effect on Tuesday, the daily take-home pay for drivers is now just Php 250.

Because of this, Maranan is asking the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to look into their proposed fare hike and the situation of the jeepney groups and drivers.
