(Eagle News) — One of two suspects in the December 31 Cotabato City mall bombing incident have surrendered to authorities but denied any involvement in the New Year’s Eve blast, police said Tuesday.
The suspect, Salipuddin Pasandalan, 56, a resident of Cotabato City and a native of Maguindanao, claimed he had no hand in the New Year’s Eve blast that killed two people and injured around 35 more.
Chief Supt. Eliseo Rasco said the suspect, who was earlier tagged as a lookout while another suspect planted the explosives, denied any involvement in the blast.
He allegedly surrendered after he saw his photo in television reports where he was identified as one of two Cotabato blasts suspects.
Police had claimed that Pasandalan was seen in at least two places – in a lottery outlet and in a comfort room – together with the other suspect who allegedly planted the explosives.
