(Eagle News) — The suspect in the killing of an 11-year-old girl in Valenzuela City was arrested on Thursday night.
Arrested in Barangay Maysan was Ricky Castillano, uncle of the minor who was found dead in her house in Barangay Malinta hours earlier.
The minor, who was found half-naked by her brother, was believed to have been raped as well.
Castillano denied raping his niece, but admitted to killing her after she reportedly refused to get up even after he woke her up.
In a television interview, the minor’s father said he did not think the suspect–to whom he entrusted his children while he worked—was capable of committing the crime.
He said the victim even asked him the day before when he would be visiting them again.
“Ganito ko na pala makikita ang anak ko,” he tearfully said.
