(Eagle News)–Work in government offices in the executive branch is suspended effective 3 p.m. today, Sept. 23.
Memorandum No. 65 signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said the suspension was to “afford government workers more time to spend with their families” pursuant to Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1992) that declared the last week of September of every year as Family Week.
“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” the memo said.
The memo said the suspension of work in other branches of government and in independent commissions was left to the discretion of the respective management.
