Water not just a basic necessity

QUEZON City, Philippines (March 21) – Water is a basic necessity of life.  The fact that the human body is 60 to 80 percent water means that we need to drink a certain amount of liquids to sustain and replace the bodily fluids that our body loses when we sweat or urinate.

Going beyond the obvious, there are numerous studies supporting that water is more than just a thirst-quencher.

Aside from what we learned from our teachers that water regulates our internal body temperatures through the process of  sweating, there are people out there who believe that water is not just a basic necessity.

An Iranian national -F. Batmanghelidj, MD has already produced 3 books about the healing power of water, including: “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water,” “How to Deal with Back Pain & Rheumatoid Joint Pain” and “ABC of Asthma Allergies & Lupus Eradicate Asthma – Now!”

Dr. Batmanghelidj is famous for his studies that show that many diseases can be prevented if we just take the fluids that our body needed. Moreover, he believes that drinking such fluids can actually cure some diseases that many people suffer from.

Water can cure or prevent high blood pressure that is very common in adults. Dr.Batmanghelidj explains in his book that hypertension or high blood pressure is the state that sees the body dehydrated, such that there’s not enough water to fill the blood vessels. It is therefore hard to diffuse important nutrients to vital cells.

Another disease that can be prevented by water is early adult-onset diabetes. In his book, the doctor explained that with adequate water in circulation  for the brain, the release of insulin is inhibited. In diabetes, only some cells get survival rations of water.Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages. (http://www.watercure.com)

Heartburn is also one of the complications that water can prevent. Based on his book, heartburn means that there is water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract (or the pathway the food takes from the mouth). Sometimes people treat it with the use of antacids or other over-the-counter medications. Though we can find these effective in a short period of time, they do not correct the dehydration since our body needs water to sustain its normal process.

Lastly, Dr. Batmanghelidj believes that we can prevent or help cure back pain and migraine by drinking fluids. Back pain, after all, is an indication of water shortage in our spinal column and discs (the water cushions that support the weight of the body). Migraine on the other hand is the shortage of water in our eyes and brain. To prevent or cure this, we should increase our water intake to sustain bodily fluids.

Water is truly an essential for all living things, and knowing its medicinal value will go a long way in helping us live a healthy, happy and productive life.
