“Usman” moves westward; is still expected to make landfall over E. Samar on Friday, Dec. 28

(Eagle News)—Tropical Depression “Usman” continues to move westward, and is still expected to make landfall over Eastern Samar on Friday, Dec. 28.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 7 p.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 365 kilometers east of Guiuan, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Northern Cebu including Camotes Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Northern Iloilo, Northern Negros Occidental and Dinagat Island.

Camarines Norte, southern Oriental Mindoro, Antique, rest of Iloilo, and Guimaras may also be placed under Signal No. 1 in subsequent hours, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains are also likely to affect Visayas, Bicol Region, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon on Friday, Dec. 28.
