(Eagle News)–Typhoon “Ramon” has maintained its strength as it approached the Babuyan Group of Islands on Tuesday night.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Signal No. 3 remained hoisted over the northern portion of Cagayan (Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, and Santa Ana) as “Ramon,” estimated at 120 km east of Calayan, Cagayan, was forecast to make landfall over the Babuyan Islands between tonight and tomorrow morning.
Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Batanes, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and the rest of Cagayan, while Signal No. 1 was over the northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfin Albano, Tumauini, Divilacan, Quirino, Roxas, Mallig, San Manuel, Burgos, Gamu and Ilagan City), Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union and Pangasinan.
PAGASA said tonight, moderate with frequent heavy rains are expected over Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Apayao and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains, on the other hand, are expected over the northern portion of Isabela, Kalinga, Abra and the rest of Cagayan and Ilocos Sur.
PAGASA said sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under storm signals, and the western seaboard of Zambales and Bataan due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.
