Two successive earthquakes jolt Eastern Samar

The second earthquake that hit Eastern Samar on Thursday, March 28, struck 69 kilometers northeast of Guiuan at 9:28 a.m./PHIVOLCS/

(Eagle News)—Two successive earthquakes rocked Eastern Samar on Thursday, March 28, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

According to PHIVOLCS, the first quake, a 2.4-magnitude one, struck 78 kilometers southeast of Guiuan at 8:56 a.m.

The second quake, a 2.3-magnitude one,  hit 69 kilometers northeast of Guiuan 32 minutes later.

The depth of focus of the first quake was 22 kilometers, while that of the second was 26 kilometers.

Both were of tectonic origin.

No damage to property nor aftershocks were reported for both earthquakes.
