Tropical Storm Ineng now out of PHL, moving over Taiwan Strait

(Eagle News) – Tropical storm “Ineng” has already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is now moving over the Taiwan Strait towards Southeastern China.

“Ineng exited the PAR at 6:00 PM today,” said PAGASA in its latest weather bulletin.

“All Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals have been lifted. However, gusty conditions will still prevail over most of Luzon, especially over Northern Luzon, due to the Southwest Monsoon,” it said.

Ineng has accelerated and is moving northwest at 25 kilometers per hour.

As of 7 p.m. today, Saturday, August 24, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “Ineng” was estimated based on all available data at 395 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes which is already outside PAR (23.1 °N, 119.4 °E).

It has maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph

PAGASA said that even if Ineng has already left the country, “sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions.”

“Light to moderate with intermittent to frequent heavy rains will continue to affect Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Mindoro Provinces, northern portion of Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands),” the country’s weather bureau said.

PAGASA advised residents of these areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to floods and rain-induced landslides, to take appropriate actions and coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices.

“Continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions,” it said.
