(Eagle News)–The tropical depression off Catanduanes has entered PAR.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Onyok” entered PAR at 2 a.m.
It may intensify into a tropical storm within 24 hours, but is less likely to make landfall in the country.
As of 4 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 1,100 kilometers east of Virac, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
“Onyok” is moving northwest at 30 kph.
Today until tomorrow, the trough of Tropical Depression “Onyok” will bring scattered light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.
PAGASA said residents of these areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to floods and rain-induced landslides, should take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.
