(Eagle News)–The tropical depression east of extreme Northern Luzon may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said by that time, the weather disturbance–which will be called “Nika” once it enters PAR— is forecast to have turned into a typhoon, and will have been situated 1,325 km east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
From Wednesday through Friday, “Nika” may move generally westward near or along the northern limits of the PAR towards Taiwan and the southern portion of the Ryukyu Islands in Japan.
The weather disturbance is unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country over the next five days.
However, a strong northeasterly surface wind flow ahead of it will bring rough to very rough (2.5-4.0 m) seas over the northern seaboards of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands and the seaboards of Batanes, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur beginning today.
Sea travel is risky over these areas especially for those using small seacraft.
