Trillanes sued for allegedly inciting to sedition

(Eagle News) — Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras on Friday, Sept. 14, sued Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for inciting to sedition.

Paras filed the charges before the Pasay Prosecutors’ Office.

The charges stem from Trillanes’ remarks against President Rodrigo Duterte, which Paras said incited the people to overthrow the government.

In his previous speeches, Trillanes called Duterte “corrupt, incompetent, evil, obsessed and insecure,” among others.

This is the third time in 10 months Paras filed charges against Trillanes.

Paras filed charges of grave threats against the senator after he allegedly threatened the labor undersecretary when they saw each other in the Senate.

Paras was also among those who charged Trillanes with sedition after the senator allegedly encouraged soldiers to shoot Duterte.

Trillanes is holed up in the Senate following the issuance of Proclamation 572 that declared the amnesty granted to him for the Oakwood mutiny and the Peninsula Manila siege in 2003 and 2007, respectively, void ab initio.
