(Eagle News) – Senator Antonio Trillanes IV claimed that he is receiving “expressions” of support from some “active officers” of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and that he still has communication with them.

Trillanes also warned of a possible uprising of the people, citing what happened in EDSA 1 and EDSA 2, if the alleged “harassment” against him continues.

“These things are out of my hands.. Desisyon ng taong bayan kung hanggang kailan na lang ang kanilang pasensiya,” he told reporters Friday morning, Sept. 7.

Asked when this possible uprising is, Trillanes said: “Kapag punung puno na ang mga kababayan natin… Its palpable, when the time is ripe.”

Trillanes, who had been holed up inside the Senate premises since President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 572 voiding his amnesty was published in Manila Times on Sept. 4, said he still has some “engagement” and “communication” with some active AFP officers.

“Meron tayong engagement with some active members of the Armed Forces. They are hoping na hindi sila magamit… itong political exercise na ito ni Mr. Duterte,” he said .

“They want to be professional. Kasi alam nila na ito ay pangigipit lang,” he claimed.

Trillanes claimed these active AFP officers whom they are communicating with are giving them “critical information.”

“They are providing critical information and some documents,” Trillanes told reporters Friday morning, Sept. 7, his fourth day at the Senate since the Proclamation No. 572 voiding his amnesty was published in a newspaper.

Trillanes, however, would not name who these AFP officers were.

Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano who was also part of the Oakwood Mutiny 15 years ago claimed that they are communicating with the military officers directed to arrest Trillanes.

“Nakakausap naman namin ang mga arresting officers,” he said.

Alejano said they are stressing to the AFP officers that they should not arrest Trillanes if they do not have an arrest warrant.

Ang importante lang maintindihan ng arresting officers (that) Proclamation No. 572 is not enough to arrest Senator Trillanes,” the lawmaker said.
