(Eagle News)—-Severe Tropical Storm “Tomas” continues to weaken as it traversed the Philippine Sea.
As of 10 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Tomas,” which re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 3 a.m., was located 1195 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of 90 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kilometers per hour.
It is moving west northwest at 25 kilometers per hour.
According to PAGASA, “Tomas” is expected to weaken into a tropical storm in the next six to 12 hours.
Although it has no direct effect on the country and is not expected to make landfall, sea travel over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas remains risky due to the northeast monsoon.
