(Eagle News) — The test-run of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s Alalay sa MRT3 program will be held today, November 9.
Under the program, the MMDA will be offering free rides in four buses to MRT commuters from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. southbound, and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. northbound.
The pick-up point of the southbound buses is the MRT North Ave. station.
Drop-off points are the MRT Ortigas station and the MRT Ayala station.
The nortbound buses have as pick-up and drop-off points all MRT stations from Taft Ave. to North Ave.
These buses are apart from the 20 buses that are deployed as “alternate service” for MRT passengers.
These buses–which will be escorted by the Philippine National Police’s Highway Patrol Group and the Land Transportation Office—have a fare “equivalent to the amount collected according to the station of origin and destination.”
“Private vehicles will be strictly restricted from entering the yellow lane. Violators will be apprehended with a fine of P500,” the MMDA said.
Regular implementation of this program will begin on Friday, Nov. 10.
It may last for three to six months.
