TD “Salome” makes landfall over San Juan, Batangas; brings heavy rains in several areas, including M. Manila

(Eagle News) —  Tropical Depression “Salome” has made landfall over San Juan, Batangas, and is expected to bring heavy rains in Metro Manila up to past midnight.

In its 8 p.m. press conference on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said “Salome” made landfall an hour earlier, and is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour.

The tropical depression is moving west northwest at 25 kilometers per hour, and is expected to be over the West Philippine Sea on Friday morning.

According to PAGASA, from 8 p.m. to past midnight, Metro Manila will experience heavy rains and gusty winds.

The gustiest winds and heaviest rains, PAGASA said, will be felt particularly in Batangas, Marinduque and Mindoro.

Signal Number 1 remains hoisted over Metro Manila, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Romblon, Marinduqu, Quezon, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro.

Added to that list are several areas in Central Luzon—Bulacan, Pampanga, southern Zambales, and Bataan.
