SWS: Duterte admin gets “very good” net satisfaction rating; high marks cut across classes, geographical areas

(Eagle  News) — A whopping 71 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of the Duterte administration, a recent Social Weather Stations survey showed.

According to the survey done via face-to-face interviews of 1500 respondents from September 23 to September 27, only 16 percent were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the administration’s performance, and 13 percent were dissatisfied.

The administration’s overall net rating was “very good,” SWS said, as it netted  an excellent in Mindanao (+74), a very good in the Visayas (+57), very good in Balance Luzon (+52) and very good in Metro Manila (+51).

The administration’s high marks also cut across classes—very good among members of Class ABC, with a rating of +60; very good among members of Class D, with a rating of +60; and good among members of Class E, with a rating of +46.

Out of the 17 specific performance subjects rated, the administration’s net rating in helping the poor (+67), protecting the environment (+58), defending the country’s territorial rights (+52), and providing jobs (+50) was described as very good.

The Duterte administration was rated a good in distributing lands to deserving tillers under land reform (+49), fighting terrorism (+47), protecting human rights (+46), foreign relations (+40), reconciling with Muslim rebels (+38), eradicating graft and corruption (+35), reconciling with communist rebels (+35) and in fighting crimes (+30).

The Duterte administration’s performance in ensuring that no family will ever be hungry (+29), recovering stolen wealth ( +28), resolving the traffic problem (+22), solving the problem of extrajudicial killings (+22) and fighting inflation (+21) was rated moderate, according to the survey.

The survey has sampling error margins of +-2.5 percent for national percentages, +-4 percent for Balance Luzon, and +-6 percent each for Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.
