SSS announces early release of pension for April

(Eagle News)–Over 2.7 million Social Security System pensioners can expect their April pensions early.

In a statement, SSS said it has released P11.9 billion to its distributing partner-banks for the April pension, and have started crediting this in bank accounts of pensioners starting March 23.

According to SSS president and chief executive officer Aurora Ignacio, “we allowed the early release of their monthly pension to provide them with some financial assistance.”

“It will help our pensioners cope with the situation that the country is facing right now brought about by the dreadful coronavirus disease 2019,” she said.

She said SSS has also asked its partner-banks to release the pension early.

“We always take into consideration the safety and financial security of all SSS pensioners; thus, we made the decision to address their financial needs, especially those who are residing in areas that are currently under enhanced community quarantine,” she said.
