SolGen Calida: “Black ops” ongoing vs President Duterte

(Eagle News) — The Office of the Solicitor General on Wednesday said there were ongoing “black operations” against President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a press conference, Solicitor General Jose Calida said the operations “began as color yellow,” and were now “white” and even “red.”

“One, the political losers can’t accept they lost. It’s a matter of political lust. They want to regain again their power,” he said, without naming names.

He said those behind the “black operations” were “using so many issues like extrajudicial killings, the death of minors,” among others to attempt to destabilize the government.

“They’re throwing everything at the President right now,” he said.

“A lot of gall”

He also called out Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang, who he said had “a lot of gall hoisting on the public fake documents.”

He was referring to what Carandang alleged were  President Duterte’s and his family’s bank account records, which the deputy Ombudsman claimed he received from the Anti-Money and Laundering Council.

Carandang had said these documents were being used to launch an investigation into the Duterte family’s wealth.

The AMLC, however, has denied providing the Office of the Ombudsman–and Carandang— such documents.

As for Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, whose complaint against Duterte became the basis for the Ombudsman’s investigation,  Calida said they were looking at the possibility he was “in cahoots” with former members and former officials of AMLC.

The AMLC has also denied that they were the source of the attachments to Trillanes’ complaint, and noted that the money the senator claimed Duterte had was “wrong, misleading.”

The AMLC said the figures in Trillanes’ complaint were erroneously arrived at by adding inflows and outflows.

“Where did Trillanes get these documents? Is he in cahoots (with former AMLC officers, former AMLC members)? We are looking into that angle,” Calida said.
