LPA enters PAR
(Eagle News)–Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over several areas as Tropical Storm “Ramon” continued to move toward Babuyan Islands.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the Northern portion of Cagayan (Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Calayan, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, and Santa Ana) are under the storm signal, as “Ramon,” last spotted 120 km east of Calayan, Cagayan, packed maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
It is moving west northwest at 10 kph, and is forecast to make landfall over the Babuyan Islands between morning and afternoon today and over the northern coast of Cagayan between the afternoon and evening today.
Due to the land interaction and the Northeast Monsoon, the typhoon is forecast to weaken following landfall, PAGASA said.
The weather bureau said the Low Pressure Area east of Eastern Visayas, on the other hand, has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and was estimated 930 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
The LPA is forecast to develop into a Tropical Depression within 24 hours.
PAGASA said Signal No. 2 is hoisted over Batanes, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and the rest of Cagayan while the northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfin Albano, Tumauini, Divilacan, Quirino, Roxas, Mallig, San Manuel, Burgos, Gamu and Ilagan City), Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, Pangasinan are under Signal No. 1.
The Signal No. 1 over the southern portion of Isabela has been lifted.
Today, moderate with frequent heavy rains are expected over Batanes, the northern portion of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, Apayao and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.
Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are forecast over the northern portion of Isabela, Kalinga, Abra and the rest of Cagayan and Ilocos Sur.
Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under storm signals, the seaboard of southern Isabela, and the western seaboard of Zambales and Bataan due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.
