Signal No. 2 hoisted over some areas as “Ramon” moves towards N. Cagayan

(Eagle News)–Signal No. 2 has been hoisted over some areas as Tropical Storm “Ramon” moves towards Northern Cagayan.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), northern portion of Isabela (Sta. Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon, Cabagan, Sto. Tomas, Quezon, Delfino Albano, Tumauini, and Divilacan), Apayao, and Kalinga are under Signal No. 2.

Signal No. 1, on the other hand, has been hoisted over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Northern Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, and Dinalungan), and the rest of Isabela.

As of 7 a.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm “Ramon” was estimated at 190 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

It is moving northwest at 10 kph.

PAGASA said “Ramon” is forecast to make landfall over Northern Cagayan between tonight and tomorrow morning.

The low pressure area  outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility was also estimated  1,725 km east of Eastern Visayas, and is expected to enter PAR within 24 hours.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over the eastern portions of mainland Cagayan and Isabela are expected, while  light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are forecast over the rest of mainland Cagayan and Isabela, Babuyan Islands, northern portion of Aurora, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra, and Ilocos Norte.

Tonight, moderate with occasional to frequent heavy rains over Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, northern portion of Isabela, and Apayao are expected.

Light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are forecast over Batanes, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, and the rest of Isabela.

Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under storm signals, the western seaboard of Northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.
