Signal No. 1 hoisted over 15 areas as “Jenny” moves in northwest direction

(Eagle News)–Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over 15 areas as the low pressure area off Virac, Catanduanes developed into Tropical Depression “Jenny.”

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the signal was hoisted over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, eastern portion of Pangasinan, northern portion of Quezon including Polillo island and Catanduanes.

As of 4 p.m., the center of “Jenny” was estimated at 670 kilometers east of Virac, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

It is moving northwest at 25 kph.

Between today and tomorrow, “Jenny” will bring light to moderate rains with intermittent heavy rains over Caraga, Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region.

Tropical Cyclone Signal  No. 1 may be raised over Ilocos Norte, Babuyan Group of Islands, and the rest of Pangasinan later in the day.

Sea travel may be risky over the areas where signal number 1 has been hoisted.
