Several areas still under Signal No. 1 as “Usman” moves toward Eastern Visayas

(Eagle News)–Tropical Depression “Usman” is on track to make landfall over Eastern Samar on Friday night, as it continues to move west northwestward toward Eastern Visayas.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m., the center of “Usman” was located 230 kilometers east of Guiuan, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over northern Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands, Camarines Norte, southern Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, southern Occidental Mindoro, southern Oriental Mindoro, Cuyo, eastern Samar, northern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, northern Cebu including Camotes islands, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Antique, northern Negros Occidental and Dinagat Islands.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Visayas, Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon today, PAGASA said.

Moderate to heavy rains are also expected over the Calabarzon area, Aurora, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas on Saturday, Dec. 29.

“Usman” may exit the Philippine Area of Respomsibility between Sunday and Monday.
