Senators dismayed at PNP regarding Joo slay

QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES – The Senate condemned the Philippine National Police after the heinous act of kidnapping and killing Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo in Pampanga. According to Senator Francis Escudero, this is like a big black eye to the PNP due to their weak response to its officials and personnel caught doing illegal activities as well as their seeming protection of their crooked members. Senator Panfilo Lacson, on the other hand, said that it is about time that the PNP cleans its rank. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said that the PNP should make clear actions against police scalawags in order to regain the public trust. Despite this, most of the senators agree that PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa should not be made to resign on the principle of command responsibility.
