Senator Recto recommends release of old and sick inmates

QUEZON CIty, Philippines – Senate minority leader Ralph Recto has submitted a proposal for the release of old and sick inmates in the country’s various jails.

He said this measure will cut government expenditures and, at the same time, de-clog jails.

Furthermore, once all the inmates who received pardon from the Bureau of Corrections (BOC) have been released, every taxpayer will save Php 46,000 each year. Government will also save Php 19,000 for each old and sick inmate released.
