QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The opposition said that the drop in the President Duterte’s satisfaction rating also reflected lower confidence of the business sector for the Duterte government
Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon said that it is also time to revisit the policies of the administration, especially the war on illegal drugs.
“The government better take a second look at their policies and the way they enforce their policies dahil kung walang pagbabago, sa mga susunod na surveys baka magpatuloy ito,” Drilon said.
Drilon claimed there were lower investments in the country, especially foreign domestic investments, lately.
“The plunge in the domestic trust rating is also reflected in the trust and confidence of the foreign investors as shown in 90 percent drop in the foreign direct investments, from $1.4 billion in January to June 2016, to just $114 million in the similar period in 2017,” he said.
But Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto disputed this.
“Every week halos nagpapalit ang opinion ng tao. Ganoon talaga yan,” he said.
Sotto said that the mandate given to the President is up to six years. He likened the ratings game to a basketball game.
“Kumbaga sa basketball yan, yung three-points pinapalakpakan yan, hiyawan, pero pag naagawan, malungkot. Ang importante pagdating ng last quarter, ano ang score,” the senator explained.
