Senator Angara pushes tax reform bill, says this will provide funds for free medicines for poor families

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara is pushing for the passage of the Tax Reform bill that he said would give free medicines to poor Filipinos, and that would include poor families in the free medical programs of government hospitals.

Senator Angara said that more poor families would benefit if the Senate passed Senate Bill 1592 or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) into law.

In Senate Bill 1592 endorsed by Angara, he said funds to be generated from the tax reforms contained in the bill would fund the free medicine program for the poor of the government.

“Poor Filipinos still face the problem of limited access to low-cost, safe, and quality essential medicines,” he said.

“It is our duty to make essential health services available to all Filipinos, giving priority to the needs of underprivileged patients,” Angara said.
