(Eagle News)–Senator Sonny Angara is set to file a resolution honoring the policeman who was killed while trying to shield students from a grenade hurled by an assailant in a Misamis Oriental campus on Nov. 28.
In a statement, Angara said it was only “proper” the Senate recognized Police Master Sergeant Jason Magno for his heroism, having made the ultimate sacrifice when he used his body to cover a grenade thrown by the man who ran amok inside the Initao College campus.
“It is men like him who represent the best of the PNP and Filipinos as a whole,” Angara said.
“Master Sergeant Magno’s heroic death should serve as a reminder of the service provided by our brave men and women in the PNP. Every day they risk their lives to keep us safe from criminal elements,” Angara added.
At least ten people were injured in the attack that took place before noon in the campus in Barangay Jampason.
President Rodrigo Duterte has given a posthumous award to Magno for his heroism, and financial assistance to his bereaved family.
