(Eagle News)–The Senate joint panel conducting an inquiry into the Good Conduct Time Allowance law has ordered some Bureau of Corrections current and former officials to submit their Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.

The panel ordered the former and current officials to submit their SALNs since 2013 up to this year, following Senator Risa Hontiveros’ request they be subjected to a lifestyle check.

The request came following allegations there was corruption in the grant of GCTA to inmates, which led to the release of some convicts of heinous crimes.

Earlier, Yolanda Camelon testified she had paid P50,000 to Staff Sergeant Ramoncito Roque she identified as the chief of the BuCor documents and records section, and to Major Mabel Bansing to expedite the release of her partner, who was committed at the New Bilibid Prison.

She also said  Camelon also admitted to dealing with another BuCor official named Veronica Buno.

President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the convicts released under the GCTA law to surrender to authorities within 15 days, or be treated as fugitives.

The Philippine National Police said over 100 convicts have so far surrendered. Meanne Corvera
