SC asks COMELEC to comment on extension of voters’ registration

The Supreme Court gave the Commission on Elections ten days to comment on the petitions of various youth groups asking for the extension of the voters’ registration.

Said groups cite Section 8 of the Voters’ Registration Act which provides that no registration should be held 120 days before the regular election.

Based on said provision, with the election to be held on May 2016, the registration should have been up to January 2016 and not only up to October 31, 2015.
