“Samuel” makes landfall over Borongan, Eastern Samar

(Eagle News)—Tropical Depression “Samuel”  made landfall over Borongan, Eastern Samar early Wednesday, Nov. 21.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the “Samuel” made landfall at 2 a.m.

As of 1 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 30 kilometers east of Borongan, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kilometers per hour.

“Samuel” is moving northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.

Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1 is up over Masbate, including Ticao Island, Romblon, southern Oriental Mindoro, southern Occidental Mindoro, Palawan including Cuyo island and Calamian group of islands, northern Samar, eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Antique.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Western Visayas, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Cebu, Negros Oriental and southern Quezon.

Signal No. 1 over Mindanao is now lifted.
