“Samuel” maintains its strength as it moves toward Dinagat-Samar-Leyte area

Signal No. 1 hoisted over several areas

(Eagle News)—-Tropical Depression “Samuel” has maintained its strength as it continues to move toward the Dinagat-Samar-Leyte area, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said that as of 4 a.m., the center of “Samuel” was located 395 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

“Samuel” is moving northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.

A Signal No.1 has been hoisted over Masbate including Ticao Island, Romblon,  southern Oriental Mindoro, southern Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan including Cuyo Island and Calamian Group of Islands, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan and Antique, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sue, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Caraga Region, northern Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central and Western Visayas and Bicol Region, PAGASA said.

Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft ae advised not to venture out over areas under Signal No. 1 and the eastern seaboard of southern Luzon.
