Roque to hold weekly press briefings in Marawi City

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — The newly-installed Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque is planning to hold regular press briefings in the heart of the devastated city of Marawi itself.

The Philippine government is set to start rehabilitation in the city.

During his first press briefing in Malacañang, Roque said that he wants to hold briefings with the Provincial Press Corps every Wednesday in Marawi.

“I am planning on doing briefings regularly on Wednesdays from the ground in Marawi,” Roque said.

“It’s an innovation that I thought of because the rebuilding is soon to begin and I think the people should know exactly what’s happening on the ground,” Roque, who represents Kabayan party-list at the House of Representatives, said.

Roque also plans on hiring a Deputy Spokesperson to take charge and give the Palace position on certain issues while he is away.  He said he is eyeing a “millenial” for the position, someone who is “better looking” and who “speaks better” than him, he said.

Roque said the person he has in mind for the position is a former student who will still take the bar.
