Retired AFP chief Año officially takes helm of DILG

(Eagle News) — The officer in charge of the Department of the Interior and Local Government officially turned over the reins of the agency to its new head in ceremonies held on Tuesday.

Former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief  Eduardo Año took the helm of the DILG from Catalino Cuy, who was officer in charge for almost a year.

Cuy will now head the Dangerous Drugs Board.

The turnover ceremonies came four days after President Rodrigo Duterte himself made the appointments.

In October last year, Año retired from military service after reaching the mandatory age of retirement.

In turnover ceremonies to the new AFP chief, though, President Rodrigo Duterte said the retired general would head the DILG.

In August, President Duterte already said he wanted Año as Interior Secretary after his retirement.
