Rains to prevail as TD Hanna moves west northwest, southwest monsoon affects Luzon, W. Visayas

(Eagle News)–Rains are still expected in parts of the country today, Aug. 4, as Tropical Depression “Hanna” moves west northwest, and the southwest monsoon affects Luzon and Western Visayas.

In its recent advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said monsoon rains will prevail in Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas.

Flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rainshowers are possible.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Visayas and the rest of central Luzon will have cloudy  skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms also due to the southwest monsoon, while the rest of the country will have cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of TD Hanna.

Hanna, PAGASA said, is located 1095 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, and packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of 70 kph.

It is moving west northwest at 15 kph.
