(Eagle News) — The northern portion of Samar can expect more rains as “Urduja” continues to move slowly over the area on Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the center of the tropical storm as of 4 a.m was in the vicinity of Calbayog, Samar, with the weather disturbance expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility until after five days.
It is forecast to move west at 13 kilometers per hour.
According to PAGASA, “Urduja” is so far packing maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 110 kilometers per hour.

Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao Island, Romblon, and Cuyo Islands Northern Samar, northern part of Samar, Biliran, Aklan, Capiz, northern part of Antique, and northern part of Iloilo.
The southern part of Occidental Mindoro, southern part of Oriental Mindoro Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Burias Island, and northern portion of Palawan including Calamian Group of Islands Rest of Iloilo, rest of Antique, Guimaras, northern part of Negros Occidental, northern part of Cebu, Leyte, Eastern Samar, and rest of Samar are under Signal No. 1.
Scattered to at times widespread rains will also continue over Western Visayas, Bicol Region, southern Quezon, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, and Calamian Group of Islands, PAGASA said.
As such, the weather bureau said residents of these areas should “undertake appropriate measures against flooding and landslides and coordinate with their local disaster risk reduction and management offices”
Rains over the rest of Visayas are forecast to gradually weaken.
“Sea travel remains risky over the seaboards of areas under tropical cyclone warning signals,” PAGASA said.
