President Duterte to set up hotline for investors who want to report corrupt people in gov’t

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, April 28, urged foreign businessmen to invest in the country, as he revealed plans to set up a hotline where they could report any irregularities when they deal with the government.

“And if you have any misgivings, just call me. Especially if it’s about corruption, I will give you time to talk to me,” he said.

He urged the businessmen not to give in to the demands of unscrupulous government employees and officials and that all “(they) have to do is make a call.”

He assured the businessmen they would be “protected,” and that there would be “law and order.”

He said this was provided they pay their taxes, obey the laws including environmental requirements.

“There are a set of laws to follow. If it’s followed, then we are okay and we can talk about business,” he said.
