President Duterte to issue eviction order vs illegal occupants of gov’t housing projects in Bulacan

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has warned members of the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) that he would issue an eviction order for them to vacate government housing units in Bulacan which they illegally occupied last week.

Duterte said that he would issue  eviction notices immediately to the illegal settlers, who occupied low-cost government housing in the towns of Pandi and San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan if they will not obey the law.

The 5,000 people, all allegedly members of KADAMAY, occupied more than the 4,000 vacant housing units of the National Housing Authority reserved for informal settlers and other NHA beneficiaries from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

They barged into the Pandi Residences 3, Pandi Village 2 , Padre Pio, PNP/AFP Housing, BJMP Housing at Villa Elise.

“You know, frankly speaking, you sometimes say, ‘Obey the law, no Martial law.’ But you want to ignore the law. You cannot do that. I will force the issue with eviction,” the President said.

He then urged those families who occupied the housing units in Bulacan to a dialogue to avoid being forced out of the area.

“Let’s settle it through a dialogue. Don’t do it that way because that’s anarchy… Do not do that because that would make it appear that the government is inutile,” he said.
