President Duterte to AFP, PNP: “If I overstay and want to become a dictator, shoot me”

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte in a speech he delivered in Compostela Valley, once again said that he does not want to extend his term as president, even if there is a constitutional amendment and a switch to a federal system of government.

“If I extend my term even by just one day, I am now asking the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the PNP (Philippine National Police) not to allow me or anybody else to mess up with the Constitution,” he said.

President Duterte even asked the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police to shoot him if he extends his term even for a day.

“If I overstay and wanted to become a dictator, shoot me, I am not joking,” he added. “It is your job to protect the constitution and to protect the people. Remember, it is your solemn duty.”
