President Duterte: My son Paolo will run for a House seat to get back at Trillanes

(Eagle News)–Former Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte is running for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2019 elections.

President Rodrigo Duterte himself, the former vice mayor’s father, revealed this in a speech before members of the Filipino community in Papua New Guinea on Friday, Nov. 16.

The President is attending the 26th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Econonic Leaders Meeting there, but cut short his trip.

“I think he’s (Paolo Duterte) running for congressman kasi napahiya, hiniya ni (Senator Antonio) Trillanes. He was summoned to Congress,” the President said.

“Gaganti talaga ‘yan. He will be running for congressman tabla sila dyan. Sabi ko, magkaaway man kayo ni Trillanes pagdating ninyo sa Congress magbarilan kayo at mamatay ka, ililibing kita. That’s how it is,” Duterte added.

Trillanes had accused the younger Duterte of being a member of a triad or an international crime syndicate.

He also accused him of being part of a so-called Davao Group engaged in facilitating the smuggling of contraband, including illegal drugs.

The President then went on to criticize Trillanes and his Magdalo group, who went up in arms and holed themselves up in Oakwood and the Manila Peninsula in  2003 and 2007 respectively to demand for theb-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s ouster.

“Magdalo, ito yung mga rebeldeng sundalo na nagkalat diyan sa makati pati sa Peninsula. They destroyed everything, parang ISIS ang mga buang.  Wala silang [alam] kundi to kill, maghamon, magbastos,” he said of them.

He also urged the audience to take extra precaution with the group, which he has already accused of working to oust him from the presidency.

“Be careful again with the military, lalo na ‘yang mga rebelde tapos na-rehab because they were extended pardon by Aquino. They became sort of invinsible na. Pumasok na isip yung ‘well I can do anything I want because I did the worse in my lifetime and yet I’m still here being a senator,” he said.
