President Duterte meets with kin of victims in landslide in Itogon, Benguet

(Eagle News)—President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, Sept. 17, met with the victims of those killed in a landslide in Itogon, Benguet.

The meeting, which was shown in pictures posted by Special Assistant to the President Bong Go in his social media account, took place before he led a briefing on the effects of “Ompong” on the Cordillera Administrative Region at the Benguet Provincial Capitol.

At least 30 people were killed after a landslide at the height of “Ompong” buried a chapel where the victims had been holed up.

Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu ordered a suspension of all small-scale mining operations in the CAR as a result of the incident.
