Police confiscate P5M worth of shabu from condo unit of Chinese national in Muntinlupa

(Eagle News) — Authorities on Monday dawn (April 23) seized P5 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as “shabu” from a condominium unit believed to be rented by a Chinese national in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

According to the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), they conducted a one month- surveillance in the condominium unit rented by the Chinese national, Yang Ang Quan alias Li Hong Peng, who was one of the suspects they had arrested in a previous buy-bust operation.

PNP-DEG Head Chief Supt. Albert Ferro said the suspect had already posted bail since he was nabbed in April 2012.

He had since gone missing, but the police was able to trace his safe house and confiscated at least one kilogram of shabu from his unit.

Ferro said that the PNP-DEG conducted two buy-bust operations in Alabang and Makati last month, and they were able to trace the condominium unit based on the information provided by one of the suspects arrested in their March 23 buy-bust.

“We were able to trace his (Peng’s) safe house and this morning, we served the search warrant and seized several suspected shabu amounting to P5 million,” said Ferro.
