DAVAO CITY, January 13 (PIA) – The Davao Region Police Office braces for the full deployment of personnel Saturday during the eve of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Golden Launch in the city Sunday and the Miss Universe engagement on January 17 here.

Chief Inspector Andrea de la Cerna, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office XI said a pre-deployment of police personnel was conducted prior to the visit of Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe involving 1,446 police force all over the city.

She said full deployment will be executed Saturday composed of three thousand personnel not only from the police but also coming from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the line-government agencies. “Security is already in place.

There will be deployment in all areas of concern especially on the malls and the SMX Convention Center,” De la Cerna said.

She said that the security of the Japanese premier and his party was handled by the Presidential Security Group while the Davao City Police Office acted solely as support unit. De la Cerna said that aside from the SMX Convention Center, the routes going from the Davao International Airport to the hotels have corresponding security.

“Police units rehearsed in handling area security to immediately address the safety of people and the flow of traffic,” she said.

De la Cerna said three task groups that will handle the security, peace and order and emergency preparedness are organized to ensure response and order.

“These task groups have corresponding personalities with the security manned by 2,081 personnel, 1,446 for peace and order responsible for anti-criminality, public order, traffic and tourist protection and community relations.

Emergency preparedness involves all logistical requirements like vehicles, CVM equipment and K-9 units that might be used in contingencies,” she said.

De la Cerna urged the residents to obey the traffic rules and regulations given the heavy traffic due to the influx of visitors. (Philippine Information Agency)
