Three foreigners who are alleged members of a “budol-budol” gang were arrested in an operation in Pasay last week.

Aroon James, 44, Brown Akwe Fonboh, 43, and  Gum Blanche Murphy, 28, were nabbed by members of the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group after they allegedly extorted P250,000 from a Chinese national.

It was the Chinese national who sought the help of the police after the suspects demanded P5 million from him on May 23, promising to make $100,000  worth of bills with paraphernalia and “chemical applications.”

This was after the same Chinese national was deceived into believing the group could do such but failed to deliver on May 14.

The three, who were presented to the media on Monday, May 28, were arrested in an entrapment operation on Sunset Drive in Pasay City past 7 p.m.

Recovered from them were the P5 million marked money and four bottles of liquid chemicals.

Also recovered were 100 US dollar bills believed to be fake.

Charges for estafa, swindling and assault upon agent of persons in authority and resistance and disobedience will be filed against the suspects, who are now detained in the PNP-CIDG headquarters.
