PNP procures P60-million CCTV rapid deployment system for use in counter-terrorism operations

(Eagle News) — The Philippine National Police has procured a P60-million closed-circuit television camera rapid deployment system for use in counter-terrorism operations in the country.

In a statement, the PNP said the system–composed of 10 deployable artificially intelligent CCTVs, a video management system, 10 CCTV mobile trailers and 10 generators—were procured from the  P19,429,717.08 in savings from the recent improvement of the PNP Command Center, and the P45,111,006.28 saved by the PNP from the purchase of body-worn cameras for use, this time, in other types of police operations.

PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said that an initial amount of P333 million was appropriated for the procurement of the 2,696 body-worn camera units but they were only actually procured for P288 million after the public bidding conducted by the PNP National Headquarters Bids and Awards Committee.

Covered by the P288 million are the video management software; computer servers; storage and connectivity systems for the body-worn cameras; and the installation of a central data center, a national management and monitoring center, 17 regional monitoring centers, and 81 provincial monitoring centers.

“Dahil sa maayos at malinis na pagbili ng mga kagamitan ng PNP, nagkakaroon tayo ng malaking savings na siyang ginagamit naman natin upang mabili ang iba pang pangangailangan ng inyong kapulisan (Because of an organized and clean purchase of PNP equipment, we get big savings which we then use to purchase the other necessities of your police force),” Eleazar said.

According to Eleazar, each of the 10 CCTV mobile trailers that are part of the CCTV deployment system has three cameras, for a total of 30 cameras, in order to maximize the documentation of the operations.

Each camera, he said, can be loaded with 200 pictures of wanted criminals and terrorists.

Eleazar said the delivery of the  CCTV Rapid Deployment System is expected to be completed by July 2021.
