PNP: P28 million worth of marijuana plants destroyed in Kalinga

(Eagle News) — Authorities destroyed marijuana plants worth P28 million in Kalinga province recently.

In a statement, the PNP said the 110,000  fully-grown marijuana plants, estimated to be worth P22 million, and 50,000 grams of marijuana stalks worth P6 million were burned down by authorities in the plantation in Barangay Loccong in Tinglayan Municipality.

It occupied a land area of 5,500 square meters.

The PNP said several individuals fired at the arriving authorities but no  arrest was made.

The PNP is in the process of determining the identities of such individuals.

“Makakaasa ang publiko na patuloy ang operasyon ng pulisya, katuwang ang PDEA, sa pagsabat at pagsira ng mga taniman ng marijuana. Hindi lamang sa Cordillera Administrative Region ang aming pokus, pati ibang lugar ay ating binabantayan para mapatigil ang produksyon at bentahan ng marijuana (Rest assured that the police together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency will continue to confiscate and destroy marijuana plantations. We are focusing not just on the Cordillera Administrative Region but also on other areas to stop the production and sale of marijuana),” PNP Chief General Guillermo Eleazar said.
