(Eagle News) — Over 149,000 people violated quarantine protocols during the 2-week enhanced community quarantine imposed in Metro Manila, the Philippine National Police said.
According to PNP Chief Guillermo Eleazar, of the figure, 98,971 were warned, 43,328 fined, and 7,664 underwent community service.
The PNP said in Metro Manila, the Joint Task Force sanctioned 100,946 violators of minimum public health standards, mass gatherings, non-observance of social/physical distancing while 40,705 violators were accosted in relation to the implementation of uniform curfew hours.
A total of 8,312 were not able to show proof they were Authorized Persons Outside of Residences or Essential Persons but and as such were denied entry in Metro Manila.
By average, a total of 9,998 ECQ violators were arrested each day for the past two weeks.
“As Metro Manila moves to less stringent Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) (on) August 21 to August 30, let us not let relax our guards because the threat of the more transmissible Delta coronavirus variant continuously plague the country”, Eleazar said.
“We strongly encourage everyone to remain mindful of minimum public health standards because the PNP will always be on our toes to strictly implement the law against violations, as well as enforcement of rules on mass gathering, social distancing, and travel restriction across lockdown cities and province,” he added.
