PHL inks $85 million worth of business deals during President Duterte’s trip to Israel

(Eagle News) — The Philippines inked almost $85 million worth of business agreements with companies from Israel, where President Rodrigo Duterte is capping off a historic visit.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said 790 jobs in the Philippines were expected to be generated from the 22 agreements and letters of intent.

Letters of intent were submitted by:

  • Amdocs Philippines Ltd., for the expansion of operations in software development and support services;
  • TrueLogic Online Solutions, Inc., for the expansion of operation in software systems development and support services;
  • Silver Shadow Advanced Security Systems and Rayo Illuminar Corp., for the exploration of opportunities in manufacturing and refurbishment of small arms and ammunition;
  • MIMA TECH, for the expansion of operations in agriculture and waste water and sewerage treatment projects;
  • Raphael-Ben Hur COnsulting and Management Ltd. and ABS Gen Herbs International Corp., for the exclusive distributorship of ABS herbal food supplements in Israel;
  • FlyEast Philippines, for the expansion of operations in tourism development;
  • FoodLab Capital, for the expansion of operations by building the FoodTech Acceleration Center within the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport
  • Assuta Medical Center and I-DEA Ventures Group, Inc. for the expansion of operations in the Philippines by building a medical center within the Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport.

Memoranda of understanding, on the other hand, were signed by the following:

  • Century Pacific Food, Inc. and Kvuzat Yavne for the distribution of canned tuna products for the Century brands within Israel and the Palestinian territories;
  • Integrated Computer Systems, Inc. and Verint Systems Ltd. for the exploration of opportunities for collaboration on security, intelligence data mining and information technology;
  • Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Foundation – Go Negosyo, Israel-Philippines Chamber of Commerce  and Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines for the conduct of joint programs related to the mentoring of entrepreneurs;
  • Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce for the exchange of information on the market and trade opportunities;
  • Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry- National Capital Region and Jerusalem Chamber of Commerce for the promotion and strengthening of trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation;
  • Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and Eilat Port Company Ltd. for the promotion of an all-water route between Subic port and the Eilat port;
  • AMA Education System and HackerU for cooperation for the development of cybersecurity-related certification courses in the Philippines;
  • Le Soleil Shipping Agencies, Inc. and ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. for additional ships to meet the Philippines’ local and international shipping requirements;
  • Armscor Global Defense, Inc. and EMTAN Karmiel Ltd. for technology transfer that will enable Armscor to create a facility for the manufacturing of weapons;
  • KEREM IT Solutions and Carbyne Ltd. for the promotion and sale of their products; and
  • KEREM IT Solutions and SuperCom for the promotion and sale of their products

“Both in Israel and Jordan, meron tayong mga ina-arrange na mga possible joint venture na mga dalawang kompanya, parang private-to-private. Tapos among government agencies, ‘yung counterpart ng DTI, nakikipag-usap sa counterpart natin sa Israel at sa Jordan,” Lopez said in an interview, a video of which was uploaded on  Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson’s Facebook account.

The President is slated to visit Jordan after his four-day visit to Israel, the first made by a Philippine leader.
