PHIVOLCS: No tsunami threat to PHL following 6.5-magnitude Papua New Guinea quake

(Eagle News)–There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following the strong earthquake that hit Papua New Guinea.

This is according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

According to media reports, the quake, at 6.5 magnitude based on PHIVOLCS data, hit the New Britain Region.

The depth was pegged at 65 kilometers.
